Frankie & The Heartstrings are a Sunderland-based indie rock band that formed in 2008, and their sound has drawn comparisons with Orange Juice and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
They recently opened their own record store in Sunderland, Pop Recs Ltd. The store was initially only to be open for two weeks as a pop up store to promote The Days Run Away, but community response provoked the band to continue operating it permanently. Amongst the artist who have supported their venture and played recently are The Vaccines, Franz Ferdinand and James Bay.
The new album ‘Decency’ follows 2013’s ‘These Days Run Away’ and sees the band continue their uncanny knack for conjuring up moments of introspective beauty whilst encapsulating the band’s ideals, both socially and politically. The pop suss that flowed through previous releases still reigns but ‘Decency’ embellishes those hooks and melodies creating some of the band’s best work to date.
