Stuart Maconie is a British journalist, author, DJ and television personality, who has penned books on popular music, social history and British travel. After receiving his big break in music journalism by sending an unsolicited review to the NME, Maconie has gone on to write for numerous publications including Q, Mojo, The Guardian, New Statesman and The Times. He has also had a successful career as a DJ working at various BBC radio stations, generally championing alternative music. His music memoir Cider with Roadies boasted his typical wry wit and deft phrasemaking and became a classic book of the genre. Maconie has subsequently written volumes addressing social class, such as Pies and Prejudice and Adventures on the High Teas, as well as political history and British travel.
