Kirsty Almeida returns to The Trades with songs from her new studio album Moonbird, released on February 02.02.2020
A world folk singer/songwriter and composer from Gibraltar, Kirsty is now based in the valley of the wild rose, Hebden Bridge.
Moonbird is influenced by her experience of motherhood, an innate love of storytelling, and affinity with the natural world. The nine-song collection exhibits accomplished song-craft, rich arrangements and exquisite production.
“This album debuts the real me,” Almeida states, “the warrior, the artist, the wizard, the girl, the broken, the found and the re-birthed.”
Reunited with her band The Troubadours, she has created an album that is as elegant as it is exciting, that floats whimsically between influences from Africa, Latin America to New Orleans and not least, those houses that cling to the hillsides of her Hebden Bridge home.
