A special event marking the Trades Club’s 100th birthday sees Commoners Choir take to the stage, with special guest Maddie Morris followed by guest DJ Red Helen taking you into the early hours on the dancefloor!
Commoners Choir have come a long way since their inception in 2015, often taking a collaborative approach to their craft. From early concerts commemorating historical food riots and the Peterloo Massacre working with Red Saunders, to participating in the recent Fete of Britain collaborating with Brian Eno, they continue to push the boundaries of what a choir can be.
Commoners write their own songs railing against greed, poverty, misogyny and racism but also celebrating hope, kindness and community. Their three, four and occasionally five part harmonies have charmed, challenged and fired up audiences the length and breadth of Britain.
With a couple of albums, a 7” vinyl EP and several collaborations with other artists under their collective belt – including with Emergency heARTS, an anarchist Indie collaborative hub based in the USA – Commoners Choir are gearing up for a celebration of their tenth anniversary in 2025 with a feature length film in the making.
Commoners Choir have lost count of how many times they’ve played at the Trades Club, and are delighted to be celebrating the Club’s birthday at what is effectively their second home!
