‘The best Here & Now line up for years … miss this show at your peril’
Formed in 1975 at Watchfield Free Festival – their first totally improvised set featured Arthur Brown guesting for an hour – Here & Now embarked on an ad hoc tour of France culminating in a live broadcast on Radio France and two sell out shows at Theatre Paris Nord.
Their unique ‘space punk-rock-jazz-reggae’ caught the attention of Daevid Allen, erstwhile leader of GONG, resulting in a collaboration known as PLANET GONG and the release of the now legendary ‘Live Floating Anarchy 77’ album.
Playing free tours around Europe lead to the release of two albums for Charly Records, and the money raised acquired the band a sound system, tour bus and equipment truck which they used to help provide the staging at Stonehenge Free Festival for several years.
Always fluid in its personnel Here & Now have continued to tour and record ever since, delighting live music audiences of many generations. The current line-up who are working on a new album includes SteveCassidy on drums, Tom Ashurst (Hawklords) on guitar, Kangaroo Moon leading light Mark Robson on keyboards and vocals, and founder member Keith Tha’ Bass playing Bass and delivering vocals
Special guests opening the show and playing bouncing bazzing-buzzy beats are Lazlo Baby, beaming in from far Eastern Stockport. Balkanic-folksy-ska with high octane exuberance, dabbling in the delights that klezmer, gypsy and trad Irish music have to offer, Lazlo Baby stitch together pounding melodies that’ll clobber you with their enthusiastic brouhaha.
