Robyn Hitchcock is a prolific English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist renowned for his surrealist lyrics and a sound that blends psychedelic rock with folk-pop. Born in London in 1953, he first gained prominence in the late 1970s with the influential art-punk band The Soft Boys before launching a decades-long solo career that has seen him release over 20 albums. Often described as a ‘musician’s musician,’ Hitchcock’s work is deeply influenced by figures like Bob Dylan and Syd Barrett, and he has collaborated with high-profile artists such as R.E.M., The Decemberists, and director Jonathan Demme. Now based in Nashville, he continues to be a vibrant force in the alternative scene, recently publishing his memoir 1967: How I Got There and Why I Never Left in 2024 and reissuing key works like Globe of Frogs through his own Tiny Ghost Records label.
