Norman Lamont and the Heaven Sent are an Edinburgh-based musical ensemble led by the eclectic singer-songwriter Norman Lamont, who has been a staple of the Scottish music scene since the 1990s. The band’s signature sound is a ‘grown-up and witty’ blend of folk-rock, Americana, and 60s R&B, often compared to the work of artists like Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, and Leonard Cohen. Lamont’s songwriting is noted for its melodic hooks and surrealist humour, with lyrics that range from the deeply spiritual to the quirkily anecdotal.
Their discography features acclaimed albums such as Turn (2023), In Another Life (2018), and The Wolf Who Snared The Moon (2004)
The current line-up of The Heaven Sent includes Norman Lamont (voice and guitar), Fiona Thom (voice and guitar), Timo Marchant (keyboards) Suzy Cargill (drums and percussion), and James Whyte (bass)
