Sunday 4th May
Women and the Campaign for Democracy
Calderdale Trades Council host a May Day Rally with speakers & discussion
FREE / donations to CTC welcome
Doors 1.30pm
Women have played leading roles in campaigns for democracy, justice, workers rights, environmentalism and socialism, yet their contributions have all too frequently been neglected and they have faced forthright opposition from the state.
Speakers include:
Jill Liddington – Women and the campaign for the vote
Judy Cox – Women and Chartism
‘Lindsey’ – Police Spies Out Of Lives (via Zoom)
Jenny Shepherd – Save Walshaw Moor
Christina Hooley – Forus Tree Co-operative
Calderdale Trades Council invites you to join us in celebrating Women’s role in the campaign for democracy. Hear from leading historians and campaigners, and bring your own stories to share about the many varied contributions women have made – and continue to make – in the campaign for democracy.
