The Jon Palmer Acoustic Band is a high energy 6-piece folk, roots and rock-n-roll combo (based in-and-around the musically vibrant West Yorkshire market town of Otley.) and best described as “a cross between The Pogues and The Oyster Band, with a bit of The Waterboys, The Saw Doctors and the Bruce Springsteen Seeger Sessions Band thrown in”.
Amongst a host of accolades, the band, who regularly perform at festivals and venues across the North of England. has been hailed “A blur of hedonistic delight” by Fatea Showcases and “the best upbeat folk band around” by the Yorkshire Gig Guide.
They have an enviable reputation for being the “go to” band for finishing off the night in a joyful, energetic, and chorus filled way.
With the release in 2017 of their album “The Silences In Between” the band received their second consecutive 5 Star review from RnR (R2) Magazine.
“a cracking new album” Mike Harding
“rollicking perfection….. what elevates every song is that each is hung on an infectious chorus, rendering the entire album compulsive listening. Great album from a great band” 5 STARS RnR Mag
“Should there be any justice, ‘The Silences In Between’, will be the album that raises Jon Palmer Acoustic Band from Yorkshire’s ‘best kept secret’ to wider recognition.” Folk Words
“The bottom line is that this is a superb album of 21st century folk-rock. Go out and buy it in thousands and make the Jon Palmer Acoustic Band rich and famous.” Folking.com
“I never tire of this band, soaring songs, sing-along choruses… and passion. Perfect! go see them at their live best” 5 Stars album review – R2 Magazine
“Songs that should enter the standard repertoire and fully justifies Jon’s reputation as a songwriter” – R2 Magazine
“Jon Palmer is a very fine songwriter… if the band were a heavy electric group they’d be The Levellers, but that would lose the subtlety of the acoustic performance.” – R2 Magazine (Rock n Reel)
