Sunday 9th March
SUNDAY EASY presents: SYLVIE ROSE QUINTET
£6 | £7 | Children FREE
2pm – 6pm
The Sylvie Rose Quintet brings a forward-facing jazz groove that seamlessly blends Contemporary Jazz, Brazilian influences (Choro, Samba), Classical, Folk, and Hip-Hop, all honed on the road in Rio de Janeiro and Carai?va, Bahia. Their music draws on the rich traditions of Brazilian and UK soundscapes while leaning into the fresh energy of artists like Nubya Garcia, Esperanza Spalding, the jazz vocals of Fini Bearman, the intricate compositions of Alfa Mist, and the stunning solo work of Christian Scott.
With Anton Hunter on guitar, Adam Fairhall on piano, Richard Young on drums, Stuart Eastham on bass, and Sylvie Rose on flute and vocals, their debut EP, Sunshine Still Off, released in January 2024, has already been featured on Radio Kiosk.
As Andy Votel of Radio Kiosk put it:
‘Great contemporary jazz coming from the Northwest of England and refusing to fit into any other fashionable or stylistic matrix.’
Don’t miss your chance to hear exclusive renditions of a year’s worth of work, crafted into a dynamic body of music set to release as an album later this year.
Our guest Dj this time round is Lucy Bergman who will be digging deep into her jazz, funk and soulful collection for your matinee session. As usual, residents Horizontal-G and D-Tone will be selecting plates of afrojazzfunk and eclectic chill for your laidback Sunday Easy vibe with beautiful Indonesian Cuisine on offer from Dapur Nin.
