Blanketman sweat and toil in a city called Manchester. They drink in pubs, eat supermarket meal deals and play musical instruments. Formed in late 2017, Blanketman have gigged extensively throughout Manchester performing their original brand of restless-legged post-punk. The band have established a strong reputation within the city’s thriving underground scene receiving accolades from admirers ranging from Blossoms to Brix Smith, with the Manchester Evening News claiming that the band are ‘breathing new life into 70s/80s post-punk’. Having started to make waves nationally with a string of festival appearances and Radio 1 plays in 2019, the bands eagerly awaited debut single is ready for release in Feb 2020.
We’re expecting big things from The Lounge Society in 2020. Here’s the next wave of the Calderdale sound following Working Men’s Club and The Orielles – four teenagers that weave dynamically between Post-Punk, stripped down Funk and Shoegaze with a totally fresh approach to influences including The Fall, ESG, Talking Heads, Bauhaus and Gang of Four. Come and see what all the fuss is about.
