The Trades Club proudly presents a stylish, witty talk, with audio tracks & rare footage, from the author of Song & Dance Man III and The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia, definitive studies of Dylan’s work.
Michael pioneered the recognition of Dylan’s literary achievement decades before Bob won the Nobel Prize, and here Michael explores the Minnesota Bard’s interaction with British and American literature, and with the poetry of the blues.
His books may be immense but there’s nothing dry about Michael’s talks. He has appeared at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and at Dylan Conferences at Minnesota, Vienna and Bristol universities. His Canterbury Arts Festival event was the best-attended that year; at the New School, NYC, the room was overflowing for his talk, as were the halls in Galway, Ireland, and the University of Texas. This is his first event in Hebden Bridge for 16 years.
Michael Gray’s events are lively, spontaneous and acute, giving a thoroughly entertaining, fresh account of Dylan’s achievement.
‘Michael Gray not only attracted a substantial audience for each of his two talks, he held them rapt. People were raving for weeks afterwards’ Director, Shetland Arts Festival, Scotland
