JOIN AYESHA GAVIN and her interpreter for an inspiring, informative and FREE tutorial. You’ll get to understand the challenges that deaf people face in the world and learn the fundamentals of communicating with the deaf through British Sign Language (BSL).
Ayesha is a truly incredible person. She was born profoundly deaf and experienced a lot of prejudice growing up. She went to Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School but struggled to feel included, yet she defied expectations and became a teacher, driven by her desire to spread awareness and improve communication in the community.
Ayesha now runs her own business teaching sign language. She is the founder and director of Heart of BSL, and she holds a BA Honours degree, a PGCE, level 6 NVQ in BSL, an assessor/internal verifier qualification and an MA in Translation.
Away from her extensive work in deaf awareness and sign language, Ayesha’s hobbies include reading, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and playing with her two crazy cats.
You can find out more about Ayesha and her services on her website – heartofbsl.co.uk
On the night, we’ll have free, pocket-sized BSL alphabet cards to distribute to all attendees containing great communication tips and essential reminders. Ayesha will also bring BSL badges that can be purchased for just 50p each.
