Skeletal Family are a prominent Indie/Alternative band formed in the early-mid 1980s with major national and international success. Their debut album Burning Oil topped UK Indie Charts for three weeks in 1984, and they recorded seven BBC Radio One sessions for John Peel, Janice Long & Kid Jensen.
Their impressive live performances caught the attention of Andrew Eldritch, leading to a support slot on The Sisters of Mercy’s 1984 Black October tour. They subsequently performed with acts like Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Mission.
Following vocalist Anne Hurst’s departure in 1985, the band signed to Chrysalis Records with new vocalist Katrina Phillips and enjoyed greater chart success with singles Restless and Just A Minute. The band disbanded in 1987 but reformed in 2002 with original members Stan Greenwood, Roger ‘Trotwood’ Nowell and Ian ‘Karl Heinz’ Taylor.
During the Covid pandemic, they recorded 19 new songs at Paul Weller’s Black Barn Studios with vocalist Anneka Latta and drummer Adrian ‘Ozzy’ Osadzenko. Their album Light From The Dark was released in April 2023 to critical acclaim, and they continue performing at festivals and venues worldwide.
